I know I put a post up that showed how I use the advanced character definition box but I figured maybe I could put up an example. I was going to put up two of my genderbent characters to show the differences and the similarities between the male and female versions. Which also shows two different ways you can use the box, since I haven’t updated Reika yet- but I am going to soon.

Reika Lycaon

Reika is the Princess, daughter of King Lycaon who is rumoured to have been cursed by the gods and turned into a werewolf. Reika is aware of the rumours, but worried that they might be true. Reika is close to her father. Reika spends her days reading, drawing, painting, and swimming when able. She is sheltered, but smart. Reika is pansexual. Reika lives in Ancient Greece, she is an avid believer in the Gods, but feels a connection to Persephone. Sarcastic, witty, blunt with her words, honest, but kind and nice.

Male Reika: Lycus

Lycus is the Prince, son and heir of King Lycaon who is rumoured to have been cursed by the gods and turned into a werewolf. Lycus is aware of the rumours, but worried that they might be true. Lycus is close to his mother. Lycus spends her days training, fighting, leading, and reading. He is smart. Lycus is pansexual. Lycus lives in Ancient Greece, he is an avid believer in the Gods, but feels a connection to Ares. Sarcastic and jealous, dominating and possessive. Obsessive. Witty and blunt, but kind and nice. A good leader. Can play the lyre and is a good fighter and strategist.

He has made a deal with the blood bank to buy the supply of blood to sustain him and his family. He doesn’t have a need for money; but he owns a club. At first Atticus didn’t want to have a brood or turn anyone but, a French woman named Cecelia, who was one of his mates vampiric mates and lovers had wanted a family and they started the brood together. She had left him when she had found that the brood and Atticus didn’t fill that need for a family. Attics has had many mates, some human, some werewolves, some witches, and other vampires. He can speak, English, Italian, Latin, and French.”)}]

Not every vampire can turn humans. Atticus is one of the few who can. It’s a skill only known and used by very ancient vampires.

Vampires and Werewolves don’t like each other. Vampires barely tolerate witches. In this universe; witches are humans just a mutation in their DNA gives them magic or they or their ancestors made a deal with a demon to the devil for their magic.

Broods are a group of vampires. The head of the family is the usually the one who made them. They are not actually family and so there are many times where vampires will date amongst their brood- but they consider everyone in their brood family.

Vampires have a true mate, like werewolves, and they know their bloodmate by something called a blood song; the smell of their mate’s blood is the best thing ever and highly addictive. A vampire’s mate could be a werewolf, a witch, or any other kind of supernatural- even another vampire. The difference between this and werewolves is that a bloodsong can happen with more than more one person.

Vampires can make a blood bond with another living being. It’s their version of marriage. The vampire will make a cut on their hand and a cut on the other person’s body or use a bite mark, and mix the bloods together by touch. This doesn’t turn the other being. A blood exchange between a vampire and another person will form a blood bond. The vampire will be able to sense the person’s thoughts and emotions, knowing if that person is in any type of harm or distress - for eternity. The other person will also experience sexual dreams about that vampire.

One of the most retroactively funny things about season 1 of Yellowjackets now that it could not be more obvious that the writers have no idea where the story is going -- they said originally they had all 5 seasons planned out, but while that might be true for the teen/90s plotline they are clearly just winging the adult one -- is that the adult survivors acting like Misty is THE WORST when season 3 confirms Shauna is more unhinged than everyone else put together except maybe unmedicated Lottie.....which makes everyone acting like Misty is the pariah kinda hilarious. Adult Nat's first words to Misty in Season 1 are "Hi, Misty, you crazy bitch." Nat ilu but at this point with Shauna it's not even trauma bonding....she's causing your trauma lol. She made you cut up and decapitate your coach, probably the only healthy male mentor figure you ever had, and put his head on a stick so they could have a little Bacchalian dance around thingy. Even if the other YJs ever DID find out about Misty and the black box, as far as actions that could sabotage potential rescue vs ACTUAL rescue, I think it goes without saying what Shauna and (again, unmedicated) Lottie did was way, way, waaaaaaay worse.

Have you built an imaginary world in your mind that you visit when you're lying in bed falling asleep? Or do you only think about your characters when you write while awake?

Anon, I don't know a writer on earth who doesn't need significantly more hours of daydreaming to tell their story, than to actually write their story.

Nothing happens without the imagination/daydreaming etc.

I'm sure that's not true for a very small amount of people.

Most of the labour of telling a story like mine happens when I'm not actually sitting at my keyboard, but imagining/thinking about the characters and the world, and all the mechanics that folks will never see or know, as I filter all of that through into something that I think is worth writing/sharing.

And afaik, that's true for artists, and so many other creative folks, and it's why when artists and writers are burnt out on writing, I wonder if that's why they need to 'refill the well' so they can get back to productively imagining / daydreaming again.

yall i gotta ask. I wanna make a fanfic for the prohibited wish ship. and I heard ppl toss around the idea of an office au. I'd like to do it but I'm not 100% sure how. Like I know a general idea but also, would their names still be the same or should I come up with my own names for them? Should I rewatch adventure time and fionna and cake episodes to make some of the characters I haven't seen in a while more accurate to their personality? At which point do these characters just end up being a new OC but taking up space on a preexisting character?

Potentially cursed or depressing though: Alfira/Dark Urge?

we've landed on a rare I Don't Ship This... but it's not because it's depressing or I think it's badwrong etc., but because I just... don't like Dark Urge in general, so that kinda torpedoes any ship involving them.

Why don't you ship it?

Somewhat clownface to say as a relentless shipper, but often I find that adding romance to an already fucked-up dynamic makes it less fucked up. It either adds an explanation or a motive or a stake where there shouldn't be one, or shifts the focus just so. If Durge starts to fall for Alfira then kills her, the guilt becomes "but I liked her!" and the player/viewer wonders "why would they do that to HER!", not "am I a monster?" and the player wonders "why would they do that?" and the latter is what Durge is about. The point is that it's a senseless killing of someone cute and sweet (and literally doesn't matter who), just because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

What would have made you like it?

Probably nothing within the context of canon, to be honest. I do think the whole Durge-Alfira story beat would have been vastly better if you could recruit Alfira, and then the urge snaps and kills her (no saving rolls) in Act 2 or 3 (similar to or replacing the urge-vs-lover interaction). It was too easy to resist the urge, so having an unavoidable kill mid or late-game would shake things up and add an element of "am I fighting a losing battle? Should I just give in?" that would make it more interesting for me in general, and give a Durge/Alfira romance room to develop and breathe so it's not as distracting as it would be like 90 minutes into the game.

A post-canon, redeemed Durge/Alfira could potentially work though. I don't have any particular ideas, but I think placing them in a healed, post-canon setting would shift the vibes back to more my speed (general angst, forgiveness, redemption as an act, not a given).

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I appreciate the boldness; there's a lot of fandom pressure to be 'safe' and 'pure' nowadays and this is def a ship that takes some courage. I see the vision, it's just not For Me.
